Hi there,

I'm an Indigo, currently living in in Duisburg, Germany, and have been concerned about environmental, political and social issues since my teens. With this post I'm
a) hoping to support the sustainable living movement and
b) looking for people seriously interested in starting their own Findhorn-like eco-community.

If you've followed the news you'll probably know that things might turn pretty rough over the next 5 to 15 years. One great way of making a difference, raising awareness and saving one's own butt ;) is to spread the sustainable living movement. Needless to say planning and building an eco-village is quite a task. Then, there are immigration issues and financial questions to consider as well as the challenge of finding a group of individuals dedicated enough to start such a project. In short, one can't get started soon enough - we might only have a few years to get going. Here are some introductory thoughts and ideas about such a project.

I'm part of a small group of concerned earth-citizens with members in North-America and Europe. We've been exchanging ideas about how best to help humanity survive the very likely upheavals and make the shift into an era of higher consciousness, greater awareness and regard for the planet and it's occupants for several months now.

Probable first steps
a) find a group of dedicated people interested in sustainable community living
b) discuss decision making processes
c) try to get a sense of whether the group members will get along with each other (initial groups perhaps shouldn't be larger than about 12 people)
d) develop some preliminary or basic plan (where, what type of community, etc.)
e) find sponsors and financial supporters...
These steps will likely run parallel to some degree

Folks needed with knowledge, experience and skills in these areas:
a) ecological buildings and materials
b) clean/renewable energy generation such as solar, wind, water, fuel cells and over/unity like ZPE - please see Dr. Greer's Implications article
c) organic and bio-dynamic farming
d) green waste water management
e) self-contained environments, i.e. closed greenhouse type systems that may prove necessary considering the worsening environmental situation
f) general solutionists contributing to alternative systems, that are in harmony with human rights, wildlife and ecosystems
g) immigration issues
h) grant writing and finally ...
i) a big heart and money :)

Perhaps also necessary are differnt types of eco communities:
a) the more close-knit Findhorn, Scotland or Fundacion Condorhuana, Ecuador type of community
b) a second type for more individualistic people allowing for more personal freedom, individual expression and that would resemble a more urban setting.

If this sounds remotely interesting please drop me a line. Let's get started pooling ideas and resources!

John

P.S. If you know of research or websites to do with where to go when the global situation gets really bad and related info, please let me know. I plan on collecting that kind of info and put it up on a webpage.
